Deserialization of Untrusted Data

Apache ActiveMQ is vulnerable to Remote Code Execution. The vulnerability may allow a remote attacker with network access to a broker to run arbitrary shell commands by manipulating serialized class types in the OpenWire protocol to cause the broker to instantiate any class on the classpath. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 5.15.16, 5.16.7, 5.17.6, or 5.18.3, which fixes this issue.

Improper Input Validation in Apache ActiveMQ

The LDAPLoginModule implementation in the Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) in Apache ActiveMQ 5.x before 5.10.1 allows wildcard operators in usernames, which allows remote attackers to obtain credentials via a brute force attack. NOTE: this identifier was SPLIT from CVE-2014-3612 per ADT2 due to different vulnerability types.

Improper Authentication

The LDAPLoginModule implementation in the Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) in Apache ActiveMQ 5.x before 5.10.1 allows remote attackers to bypass authentication by logging in with an empty password and valid username, which triggers an unauthenticated bind. NOTE: this identifier has been SPLIT per ADT2 due to different vulnerability types. See CVE-2015-6524 for the use of wildcard operators in usernames.

Improper Authentication

The optional ActiveMQ LDAP login module can be configured to use anonymous access to the LDAP server. In this case, for Apache ActiveMQ Artemis and Apache ActiveMQ, the anonymous context is used to verify a valid users password in error, resulting in no check on the password.
